KARA PERILLI

Graduated with a degree in Scientific Illustration from Arcadia University, as a scientific illustrator and designer she aims to promote science education and share easily understandable and impactful information with a variety of different audiences, from the academic realms to educate the public.
Her past experience involves an internship at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia and collaborations with a variety of researchers to produce illustrations for thesis presentation and journal articles.

GONÇALO BRITO

After a Ph.D. in medical science, he decided to put down the pipettes and pursue a career in science communication, where he could combine his analytical skills and creative passion.
He went back to school to study motion design, learning the basic principles of animation and how to bring life to the illustrations he was creating.
His mission: find the best way to break down scientific complexity using visually attractive designs.

MARZIA MUNAFÒ

Ph.D. in Medical Sciences at the University of Cambridge, she is currently a post-doctoral fellow at EMBL, working on non-genetic inheritance in mammals.
When not in the lab, she unleashes her artistic side by translating scientific findings into visually compelling and captivating illustrations for research papers published in prestigious journals such as Science Magazine.

SOPHIA TINTORI

PhD in biologcial sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she also studied animation and non-fiction film at the Rhode Island School of DesignDuke University Center for Documentary Studies, and Gnomon School of Visual Effects.
With an hand made, organic-lookin style Sophia has directed and animated projects for a variety of contexts, including documentary film, pop-science series and scientific grant applications.

Educated as fine artist painter BA Hons, he rapidly evolved into a fully edged CGI Artist.
Combining both an artistic and analytical scientific approach he is experienced in the production of photo-realistic images commissioned  by companies and advertising agencies such as NikeDormeoBulgariDigital VisionPanasonic e Sony.

RACHEL DAVIDOWITX

3D Art

Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Harvard Medical School, she then trained as scientific animator at Digizyme, where she worked on client projects including Apple’s interactive Biology textbookE.O. Wilson’s LIfe on Earth digital textbook, museum installations for the Boston Museum of Science and educational materials for Cell Signaling Technologies.

She gets skilled in New Technologies for the applied Arts at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti of Milan.
Despite her youn age, she already took part to complex digital communication projects showing valuable skills in motion graphics, 3D assets, modelling and rendering of characters and environments.

She starts to play the piano in her infancy and immediately shows her passion for multiple instruments, leading her to play accordion, guitar, bass and drum.
She studied music at Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado di Milano and then jazz music composition at Conservatorio di Milano under the supervision of Pino Jodice.

MICHELA MILANI

Bio-Medicine

Ph.D. in molecular medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan, she contributed to the advancement of gene therapy for hemophilia and is currently contributing to the understanding of liver stem cells biology at San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy.
Recipient of multiple international awards such as the “Student and Fellow Award for Excellence in Research” issued by the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy in 2018.
Interested in scientific communication, she created a blog on her Facebook profile to involve people in the fascinating world of science.

PAMELA MILITO

Clinical Medicine

Surgical resident at the University of Milan, in addition to the practical training she is in charge of a number of clinical research projects that have been selected for presentation at different national and international congresses.
In her free time she acts at the musical drama company Non Solo Giovani di Milano.
Her life attitude, guiding her approach to patients and to surgery, is to look beyond appearance.

Graduated in Astrophysics and Space Physics at the University of Milano-Bicocca, she then got a master’s degree in Science journalism at the University of Ferrara.
Author and speaker of the science communication radio show Cosmobrain.
Author of the book “The cosmos. Life, death and miracles of the Universe” (Hoepli).

GABRIELE RIZZUTO

Botany

Ph.D. student at the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford, where he also serves as tutor for undergraduate students in Plant Signaling and Growth and Forestry courses.
His scientific research addresses the genetic mechanisms of drought tolerance in conifer trees.

ELISA BERTESAGO

Environment

B.Sc. in Biological sciences at the University of Milan, she recently started the master in Sustainability and Energy Management at Bocconi university.
Despite her young age she already took part in multiple projects such as the reconstruction of the maldivian coral reef at the MarHE research institute and a collaboration with Friend of the Sea, an international programme for the promotion of sustainable fishing to preserve the oceans.

DUILIO SCALICI

Art Direction

Director, writer and musician. He made videoclips for artists such as Francesco Renga, Ermal Meta, Marina Rei, 99 Posse and others.
His short films have been presented in important international festivals like the Raindance Film Festival.
In February 2021 he publishes his first novel “Come una formica rossa in una goccia d’acqua” for Giulio Perrone Editore.

ALESSANDRO MIGLIARA

Scientific Director

Ph.D. in molecular medicine, his scientific research at the San Raffaele-Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy of Milan focuses on epigenetic silencing and its application for the therapeutic purposes (Amabile*, Migliara* et al., Cell, 2016).
Recipient of the Young Scientist Award at the 5th Italian experience in biomedical research conference organized by the Italian Society of Virology in 2017.
In parallel with his experimental activity he collaborates as author with Medical Facts, the online magazine founded by Roberto Burioni with the aim of tackling science misinformation in Italy.
